Alternative Solar Energy - Where Solar Fits In The Alternative Energy Equation

Alternative photo voltaic energy can be a great treatment for today's energy challenges for a lot of countries, by using the power of the sun and converting it into electrical energy. By forming considerable banks of solar photovoltaic panels and making a solar energy farm, a great deal of energy can be captured from the sun and turned into electrical power which can then be saved and used on-demand at a later date. Although this seems like an ideal renewable energy source, it will not provide a solution for everyone, because not all areas obtain enough sunny days every year for this solution to be effective.

Solar energy is a well known and well developed technology. Numerous nations have invested vast amounts of pounds in building solar energy facilities, even at today's solar photovoltaic material costs. Many companies producing solar cells are deep into the production cycle and therefore lower assembly costs help to generate increased demand for the development of large-scale farms.

Although not all geographic locations are suitable for solar power, there are enough locations in nearly every country that solar energy could form a large backbone of the actual environmentally friendly energy plan. Especially for nations where significant tracts of land exists that are merely desert and desirable for most farming or various other uses, solar energy is an obvious and effective energy solution. Possibly countries with an abundance of abandoned stretch of land can blend solar power generation with electrical smart grids and develop an asset that can be exchanged with other countries that have fertile land and water and generate an excess amount of food.

As solar energy companies continue to produce better photo voltaic panels, the panels are becoming not only less costly yet more efficient. This means that as the technology matures, even more power can be generated from the exact same dimension of cell or panel. This means that new farms that are built will be able to produce even more power for the same actual area.

So where does solar energy fit in the scheme of an energy strategic plan?

Solar power can be leveraged as a important energy pillar and blended with other renewable energy sources such as wind power, where the region may not support the output of the solar farm but may have conditions for wind and therefore wind energy development. Other long term energy sources like hydrogen may also be added into an overall strategy. Finally should not forget to include a "bridge" energy source such as natural gas, which can provide many many years of power while governments and businesses begin to implement alternative energy plans.
